Definition: Primary insurance coverage refers to priority of payment when you file a claim. If you purchase a travel insurance plan with primary emergency medical and dental benefits, that means the travel insurance company is the first payer or reimburser of those benefits. Please note that coverage limits do apply, including a sublimit for emergency dental benefits, depending on the plan you choose.
It’s important to note that travel insurance offers emergency medical and dental benefits, not health insurance. After paying a claim, your travel insurance provider may seek reimbursement from your health insurance company.
The OneTrip Rental Car Protector offers primary coverage for covered collision, loss and damage to your rental car, up to $50,000.
To find out if your travel insurance plan includes primary insurance benefits, read your policy documents and contact Allianz Global Assistance with any questions.
Example: You rent a sweet convertible for your big summer road trip — and then, on a country road, you swerve to avoid a turtle and hit a fence. Oh, great. The damage looks expensive, and your car insurance company is going to raise your rates for an at-fault accident… unless you have the OneTrip Rental Car Protector! This plan offers primary coverage for covered collision, loss and damage to your rental car, up to $50,000. This means the plan can pay to repair the car without ever involving your personal collision/comprehensive policy.
Available in: OneTrip Emergency Medical Plan, OneTrip Basic, OneTrip Prime, OneTrip Premier, and OneTrip Rental Car Protector.
